Politically known as Ocean Township,
it contains 32 square miles, 11.2 of which is water. Waretown's northerly
boundary is Lacey Township; Barnegat Township forms the southern boundary
at Lochiel Creek, as well as its western boundary at Jones Road. To
the east, Waretown's boundary reaches across the Barnegat Bay to the
Sedge Islands of Island Beach State Park and to the Barrnegat Inlet
and Ol' Barney just south, meeting up with Long Beach Township.

From its location directly across from
the Barnegat Inlet, the many marinas here offer direct access to deep-sea
fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Private charters are available for half
day to multi-day excursions to catch that tuna, swordfish or shark!
For the less daring, the calm and mostly shallow waters of the Barnegat
Bay offer up crabs, clams, and an assortment of fish for anglers! Rentals
of canoes, kayaks, rowboats and jet skis are available along the coastal
waters.
